a thinner quality LF roll canvas
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:41:12 pm »

Hi all,
I have been using Breathing Color Lyve Canvas which I print on HPZ printers from a 44" wide roll. It's very high quality and very heavy, and works really well on larger canvases.

I recently had to do a run of some small canvases, and got to thinking, as I stretched the wraps I had printed, if there was a canvas available that would have the same high quality printing and finishing results, but one that was a lighter weight that would be nice for smaller works. So I'm wondering what other users think.

Anyone out there have any suggestions, tips, tricks, media recommendations?

Thanks in advance, and so long for now, TOM

Lexjet Sunset Production Matte.

I've run through about a half dozen rolls without problems.

Another possibility is Hahnemuehle Photo Canvas 320.  It has a very fine, sharp printing, slightly randomized texture.  It's Hahn's production canvas, I think.  Much more expense than Lex Production Canvas, for about the same quality of image.  It's a little more opague than the Lex Prod.  What I like is the way the texture resolves reflections on glossy, rich looking coatings, it's very organic looking somewhow with lots of variation and overall good buyer appeal.

Fredrix 777 also has a fine, random-ish texture but I stopped using it because of the inadequate boxes getting smashed in shipping, the supplier doesn't double box them for shipping.  Lex Production Canvas has a much more shipping-worthy box, and itsupplies double boxes the Hahn 320 canvas, as they do all media.
