Letting Go of the Camera Redux
« on: January 21, 2015, 10:19:31 am »

If you're not a subscriber to Brooks Jensen's LensWork you might find it worth your while to go out and buy a copy of No. 116, the current issue. Since LensWork is an Art!!! magazine the issue contains many de rigeur pages of leaves and pages of ice crystals, but there's also some quite good photography in the magazine.

Worth the price of the magazine are Brooks's "Editor's Comments." For the first time in a long time he's back in Letting Go of the Camera mode: telling it like it is to the thousands of Fine Art!!! photographers who send in pictures of leaves and pictures of ice crystals.

His editorial covers ways to "get noticed" such as exotic locations, edgyness, politics, expensive production costs, girls, and cuteness, and makes clear that though these may be ways to be noticed and maybe even make money, they're not ways to become a better photographer. It's a very good read. Bravo, Brooks!
