Print jobs not being sent to printer HP Z
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:02:13 pm »

So I finally got good flowing heads and I made a few prints, although I still get the few banding lines on the front edge of the print as it comes out likely from the curl, but putting anything in front I don't think help as its the first inch or so...so damage is done out the hole.

Anyway, so last night I'm about to send another print before calling it a night, and I send it through Qimage, and it makes a jingle sound, and nothing comes up! I always use Preview in the HP properties. Nope. The job is in the que, but not getting sent to print.
I tried direct from LR, and no dice.

So I tried a few combinations and played with the Win7x64, rebooted even, with no luck. Looked at the printer and its ready to print.
Then installed the PCL3 driver along the first install, and this time I got the preview screen to pop up!!..but there was a blank page in the image!
I went to LR to see how it looked there, and in the that left top screen, it was also blank!

Now I'm thinking its my file, so I changed the selection, but no file is making a difference!

I did unplug/power the printer and restart with no difference...I did that mainly for the 48:00 error code, again. Which says to call service, and not a warning or error to self clear. I looked at the histroy of errors, and even from start of this printer there is never a 48 error until after I did the belt, bushing and particularly the fan changes. (not sure if any of that had anything to do with 48:00)

As I searched the web I found this....
http://www.fixya.com/support/t25302235-error_48_00_hp_designjet_z3100_44inch

Which is pretty much what I'm getting except, not every time I start. So far 3 times the 48 error. after I did a few prints. When I reboot it is clear. My tech got into that service station and wiped it pretty good without taking anything apart, just reaching in.

But thats a mechanical issue...I don't think has anything to do with the job not getting to the printer. SInce now, the printer is reaady, but can't get a job sent!

I know the next step might be to uninstall all the drivers and reinstall them, but I'm tring to avoid this, and posting here for alternate checks if that is needed.

How's your Sunday going?!

I had continuing issues with print preview doing something similar - I never could resolve it. I turned off print preview and had no issues since.

Just tried that with the new driver I installed and it worked! Thanks!
...Its printing the file!
Still with those lines in the fist inch of the print)..pretty annoyed with 20 prints showing this in at least half that are noticeable.
I hope I don't have to reprint them!

The little Preview on top left of LR is also blank...which makes me think that it might not be HP driver?(Or does that section pull info from the driver?...If that makes sense)

What could have caused this?
I did install another HP Laserjet 5550N driver, but I sent a few jobs to the Z since then. Maybe a restart afteri this triggered something?

I really like the HP Preview, and I'd like to get it back!

Actually, the correct driver is installed through the "Add Printer Wizzard".  On the HP driver site for Windows 7, there are several tabs with information.  You should be able to print with preview.

A workaround for the banding - put your image on a page and make it a couple 2-3 inches down the page so the print doesn't start immediately.

Error 48 is related to a solenoid issue - probably coincidental.  Just ignore it for now.

Did your tech guy lubricate the carriage guide rod?

Also, Phil, now would be a good time to run the advance paper calibration for the paper you're getting banding on.

How's your Sunday going?![/b]

I had a great day printing - printer performed flawlessly, and I spent a whole lot of time trying to help someone with their printer, and not a lot of appreciation.

How about you?  LOL

yes, I can move the image down. if I have to!

That link says the solenoid...
he PPS solenoid cable could be damaged. Could be a bad PPS solenoid or a bad print mech
Maybe the cable. Is it on the PSU side of the printer? (where is cable or solenoid? Maybe when the fan was changed out?
I'm ignoring it when I can.

Yes he lubed it. Could that cause anything?

No, lubing is to prevent those errors.  No nothing happened when the fan was changed out.
Study the manual.  Look under error codes, then follow reference.  Worse comes to worse you can always get your tech guy back out.  Shouldn't be to big an issue.  Stuff goes out like lightbulbs on these printers, Phil.

Deep breath.

Looks like you'll need to upgrade your firmware Phil.  Do so and this crap will probably stop.

Look on back of machine and see what your machine ends with, A or B - probably B, and download the correct firmware upgrade.  areally, really, really follow instructions.

OK, it is an A. I think the B is for PS versions

No - refers to how old the machine is - when it was made.
