Playing in the Mud with a few Spotted Sandpiper
« on: January 10, 2015, 02:17:10 am »

This winter I final got around to finishing some of the first images I captured with the 200-400 VRII

This little fellow is the Spotted Sandpiper
For the setup I used the D800 with the 200-400 F4 ,  15cm bipod and a burlap camouflage draped  over myself and the setup.

The complete series can be seen here

I hope you enjoy

So that's how it's done. Good work!

Well worth the time spent in the blind.  Such great detail.  Great job.

That's pure beauty, I certainly will check the entire series tonight after work.

And thanks for sharing the technique, it shows that in order to get the best pictures of waders (the birds not the boots ;)) you need to get low down, dirty and wet sometimes.  ;D

Splendid. It would seem that major equipment for shorebird photography includes a quiet ground sheet (giant garbage bag, etc).
