equivalent focal length

What is the equivalent focal length 28mm Hasselblad H3DII-31 medium format to canon full frame? I'm considering to buy a 28mm I also have a H2D-39, will this camera be able to use this lens?

If the lens is built around a full frame medium format chip, then around 17mm.  The 28mm Phase One/Schneider is an 17mm equivalent (on a 35mm full frame DSLR)  on a P65+ or IQ180, full frame Phase One back.

Thanks for rapid respons.

So on my H3DII-31 it will be a 22mm since it is a 1,3 crop. And on a 18,7 on my H2D-39 since it is 1,1 crop?

But the next big question is will it work on H2D?

Focal Length Visualizer (bottom half of this page)

Built with Phase One names, but the equivalent hassy's are pretty easy to identify. H3DII-31 is the same "Crop" sensor as an IQ140. H2D-39 has the same "near full frame" sensor as the P45+.

That is correct on the crop and equivalence.  I can't answer the other question, "will it work", as I have never owned any HB gear.  The old 1:1 crop on the P45+ never seemed to get in the way, but the 1:3 on the newer CMOS does.

It's best if you forget crop factors and think on analogies ...Your D31 sensor is 44mm wide, this is 8mm more than an a 36mm wide sensor, or 22%... Hence a 28mm will show you what a 23.4mm would on the horizontal (landscape) view... (23.4x22%=about 4.6mm (28-23.4=4.6)). If you hold your camera in portrait mode, the respective angle will be the one of 33mm with respect to 24mm on a DSLR... this is about 36% more... So the angle will be the one of 20.8mm on a DSLR when (again) held in "portrait" mode. You may apply the same on a 37x49mm sensor and get the respective angles. I don't know if the 28mm will work on H2D... It's best if you ask a Hasselblad dealer on this.
