I've been using Spyder Print for a while and was never happy with the grays that it produced.
On the test chart printouts they always appeared too warm. In trying to track down the problem I tried unchecking "Absolute Grays" in the Spyder Proof Edit menu. It worked, now prints neutral grays.
Not sure if this will help you or not, but its worth a shot.
I don't even know what Absolute Grays does, couldn't find much info about it.

The issue w/ greys is that if the paper is not truly white (ie. the white patch measures a* or b* non-zero (within tolerance)), when light greys are produced, they will be biased by the non-white of the paper base.

I believe that the Absolute Greys box basically says 'add enough complimentary color to the grey patches to make them absolutely white w regard for the paper white.
