Omd em1 shutter button
« on: December 16, 2014, 12:38:53 pm »

Hi all

All of the sudden the shutterbutton of my omd em1 doesnt do anything anymore.
Completely dead.

Tried removing the battery (and putting it back..),  upgraded latest firmware 2.2 but still nothing.

Anyone had the same issue?

Bought it 23 nov last year with a one year warranty.. Uh oh..

Thanks
Mark

Uh-Oh - try a different lens, re-seat the SD card, and try to remote shutter release.  You can also try taking a photo using the touch screen.  If those work and the release button doesn't then you may have to get it looked at.  It could be the lens though.

Mmm.. Tried a different lens but no better respons. Also tried replacing sd card.
However I did notice that the sb is not completely dead as I said earlier. It does respond: when I use a function button for instance for iso settings, and then press on the sb, the iso function disappears from the screen.
It just won't fire.

Thanks

Have you tried putting it into Manual Focus mode?  That would at least tell whether it was the AF failing to lock.

Yes Jim
Doesn't fire in mf either.
The af does work when using the touch screen by the way.

For those interested: olympus asked me to take out the battery and leave it for three days. The camera would then reset itself.
This didnt do any good.

In the mean time more problems detected:  the screen mentions "no photo" in playback when there is clearly an sd card with images on it.
Also the touchscreen function doesnt work anymore.
Very strange.

Now they will come to pick it up and send it to portugal.
To be continued.

You should have a 2 year European warranty? Good luck with the repair.
