Coal Mine Canyon Stormy Sunset
« on: December 15, 2014, 06:52:40 pm »

I haven't posted here in a while. Here's a stormy sunset pic from a trip to Coal Mine Canyon in Northern Arizona during the monsoon season.

Feels dark and foreboding, like what I've experienced during the monsoon season, especially at the edge of the day!

I camped out about 200 yards from the edge of the canyon and later that night I was a bit worried of being swept away by a flash flood into the canyon. This location is a beautiful and special place. I was told that the Hopi and Navajo consider this area sacred ground.

Feels dark and foreboding, like what I've experienced during the monsoon season, especially at the edge of the day!

The end-of-the-world atmosphere and the canyon make it very spectacular.

Nice!
As already noted - a very moody image!

Most definitely moody; a bit of a mordor-esque feel.

I did crop out Frodo and Sam from the foreground :)

Most definitely moody; a bit of a mordor-esque feel.
