Smooth surface on canvas
« on: December 15, 2014, 09:12:25 am »

I like the durability of canvas and it's uses, but am not crazy about the surface texture. I have inquired about frexrix, lyve and IJ technologies but they all have a slight texture. Is there a way to remove this with varnish or something else. Or is there a different Product I'm missing out there.

im going to be making canvas wraps. No Glass...I figured varnish would protect it. Was wondering if i increase the number of coats of varnish to decrease textured of weave in the canvas

There is a 100% synthetic poly canvas, if the texture is what you don't like. It is much smoother, and less likely to loose shape. It is also thinner and cleaner to stretch.
I can't remember the name now, but home someone chimes in.

I think the one you mentioned is the Simply Elegant Everyday Matte, never used, the price is very attractive

Lexjet satin fabric. Very smooth, almost no texture, and you can stretch it like canvas. A little pricey for what it is.

I'm having great success with Lexjet Production Sunset Matte.  All polyester, very forgiving and excellent image quality.  The surface is very low-key.

varnish being clear will reduce the tactile effects of the weave but you'll still see it. if you want truly smooth, canvas is not for you. try another fabric or consider an image box or call my friends at prolabexpress and have them make you gallery mounts
