Hi folks.
You might know me here being rather active in the MFdigiback posts, C1, and LRoom, etc...
But I just got a printer to replace my old HP130gp...A z3200ps !

I'm so excited about it. It looks like a beautiful beast.

This is a used machine, but I took as many precautions I could in selecting a proper unit.
It has a bit over 600sqft of mostly canvas printed on it. Not a mark on it.
I loaded the software on my Win7/64bit, but only have a network cable connected to it(physically the thing is too big for me to move it close to the computer for USB, at this time)

It started up fine, and I was able to print a diagnostic page with the slightest lines missing on the chromeRed.

The panel says the E(gloss) is expired, and although I plugged in the network cable, it has the previous owners old info, so not sure if it should be picking up the new IP automatically or not?
Either way, I went in the Connections menu in panel to reset the Connection settings. It says in order to do that you need to reboot the printer. Then it says to press the back arrow to continue. So I press the back arrow and then shut down and on, but the old info is still there. Hmmm..any thoughts?

I alsmost want to clear all settings and start from scratch, but I got rolls of paper with it and he already calibrated stuff things, and didn't want to lose info or be redundant and clear all that info. Not even sure if its importnat to do so.

Thanks for any input!

Congratulations Phil.  Good move getting the Z3200ps.

Phil, try this first:  Do a new driver download.
Let the downloaded driver utility search and find your printer on your network.

Download the Driver utility here:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6827630&lang=en&cc=us

Choose your system - i.e. Windows 7 64 bit.

Look on the back of your printer - and see what the product number ends with, either A or B.

Then download the driver for Revision A or B.

Start the downloaded driver utility and  let it search and find your printer.  Then let it set it up.  Be sure to choose the PS driver.  There are 4 drivers to choose from.  This will install a new printer on your system which will be your  Z3200ps 44” printer.

Then download the HP Utility.  Check out all the functions and everything  should be good to go.

Shouldn't take too long.

I see it says you have already downloaded the driver.  Sorry about that.

Go into the HP Utility and choose "Additional Settings".
Then "Open Embedded Web Server"

Go to "Service Support" on the left.

Click printer information on right.

You can find ALL information about your printer here.

Click on "Connectivity Configuration"  and you'll see how your printer is set up on the network.

You should be able to figure things out from there.

-Mark

By the way, I don't think it's necessary to clear the settings and start from scratch.  My printer says "Network settings not configured, etc" but it works fine and never a problem.

Others here may have a different opinion, but it's never made a difference for me.

Thanks Mark,

I have the HP Util installed, but yet to find the printer. It might be my firewall router I have to take a look at. One thing I was able to do is calibrate, do a diagnistics page...and then I did a Event Logs page which is different from error page, as that showed paper jams, 12 of them on the panel screen.

Those I guess occur. But the Event log had 12 events marked as

EventSeverity-SEVERE
error code 86:01,
FW version 10.0.0.2,
Line- CarriageServoMotor.cpp.1615,
Date-2010-02-21

There are 12 and the first one is 2009-01-24

Second bank of info on the page is another list of events and again 12 of them.
This time...
EventSeverity - ADVISORY...
Line - CLCHandlingSol

Are these paper jams? or related to 12 inks?

The Printhead section:
Status, use time, Ink usedMax, Recovery level
1. 0,8h, 15%, 4
2. .........7%....
3. .........9%...
4. .........6%...
5. ..........16%...
6. ..........11%...

So only the usage % is different, but all have Error Code 524288

Also, I got some inks, and heads with it, but EXPIRED. (It gives that warning on the panel of the printer, that the E ink is expired).
Is this going to give me trouble with expired inks/heads??!!
(My HP 130 never did)

The 86:01 errors are likely paper jams as you surmise.

If you plan on getting an HP care pack, the expired inks thing could cause a problem but otherwise no.  No big deal.

Don't get hung up on the error messages - best to not even look at them unless you plan on tracking every one of them down which is a huge job, and likely they lead nowhere, unless they do....

You can't  find the printer and install it from the HP Utility.

In order to find and install your printer correctly, you MUST download the Driver as discussed above.

LET THE DRIVER UTILITY SEARCH FOR AND FIND YOUR PRINTER ON YOUR NETWORK.

Sorry for shouting, but this is critical.

Read previous post carefully, please and follow my instructions.

We're not talking about a firmware download, but a Driver download.  The driver has a "Driver Utility" that runs a special program that goes out and finds your printer.  It will ask you if it can bypass your firewall.

It will search and find your printer and set it up correctly.

Go for it!

There are 2 things I can install(besides firmware, or IIC's). The Postscript driver
and the HP Utility.

I did install the Driver, and the Utility. I don't see anything saying Driver Utility.

This is the list of options below. I went with the 1st one with 18 Aug date.

HP DesignJet Z3200ps PostScript Driver Installer    61.121.362.41
18 Aug 2014    68.2

HP Designjet Z3200 Series Raster Driver Installer    277.42.4100
15 May 2012    67.8

HP Designjet Z3200 Series Raster Driver    61.121.362.41
7 May 2012    7.9

HP Designjet Z3200ps Series PostScript Driver    61.101.362.42
19 May 2010

HP DesignJet Z3200os PostScript Driver Installer | 61.121.362.42 | 18 Aug 2014 | 68.2

That is the one.

OK, it looks like it installed and updated your current driver.

When you ran the installer, did you allow it to search for your printer and add it?  This is an important step.  There would have been a check box to either allow it to add a printer or just update.  Adding the printer is the option preferred.

Go into your printer settings in control panel and right click on properties and see which version of the printer driver is installed and compare to the version you installed.  You may be good to go.

Does your "Synchronize Paper Presets" work in the Paper preset manager?  If so, do an update and see if you can see all the custom papers profiles the previous owner made.

I installed the SW without connecting the printer to the PC, as recommended. So Yes, I selected it not to search.
I think I have to "Add a Printer" in Devices, as There is no printer to be found and select properties for.

Well....
I tried "Add a printer", and it found the HP DJ z3200 44" Photo!!

Or should I not add it this way??
... I know this is where Windows can screw things up with drivers.

Update....

Well I just did go ahead and add it, and since I had installed the driver, it showed up and just gave a choice between 22", 44".
44 I selected...

Then it asked if I wanted a test page..hehe...as if its some laser desktop :-)
I don't have paper in it yet!

Well, I launched the HP Util, and it said OK, (paper required), I have none in it yet.
It does show a yellow caution sign across all 12 ink cartridges, and 6 head carts.

If anyone wants to swap inks, I have way too many of most(130ml)
I need M, PK, E

So I did try the Sync, it said Device maybe offline or disconnected. check status and try again.
hmmm?

BTW, this thing is LOUD while just sitting there. I don't have a large space, and I work most, if not the entire day in the same room, Is there a standby mode where things get quiet? What to do?

I just sent my first print. I have loads of 13x19 Premium Photo satin, which is not listed, so I'm hoping I can get this paper to work well. I like the thickness and the sheen.

Well, still "Preview in Progress"
Its been a few minutes. Its a 8x10 image on a 13x19. Taking much longer than I thought. The printer is sitting about 80-100 feet across in another room on a gigabit network line. Hmmm. I manage to overcome one hurdle, and then there is another :-)  Its how it sometimes goes I guess.

The weblink just kept showing Progress wit zero progress, the printer panel says something about the file type not compatible. Its a jpeg! (head scratch)

I sent another file via LRoom5.(latest) in TIF format, Same thing File format not compatible.

Now that tells me something else is up.

I just noticed your message :-)

I'm not sure if you read my posts(Cant blame you if you haven't as I babystep my way)...

I have everything installed and "running"(except print a file). It just wont take the files I'm sending it. It says file type not compatible.

Driver reinstall is not so bad. Try to first uninstall, and then reboot the system, and reinstall.

Mark, I can't thank you enough for stepping me through the process. I totally do see how much you love this printer, and with good reason. You made my cross country trek a walk in the park! THANK YOU!
