Exporting jpegs and metadata

I am unclear as to what metadata, if any, can be exported with jpeg files. I have selected "All Metadata" in the LR Export options, but the resulting jpegs seem to contain no metadata when imported into LR on another system. Is this just the way jpegs work, or am I doing something wrong?

If you selected All Metadata, it means what it says and you should see everything. My guess is that on the other system you have applied a metadata preset upon import, and it has emptied the fields you're examining.
