I AM Captain Cormorant

This guy copped a Musolinni Posture. I couldn't not shoot him.

Nice shot, Chris.

I'll bet there is water nearby. That's the pose Cormorants strike when drying their wings, as they don't have built-in water-proofing oil, like ducks.

It is indeed, Eric. It's counterpart with the straight beak, the Anhinga (attachment) has the same problem with oiless wings in that it must dry them after a certain number of dives or it will simple sink to the bottem. Directly under this lamp standard is a canal leading out to the Gulf of Mexico.

Your Cormorant is obviously a more experienced model than your Anhinga. "I'm not just drying my wings, I'm on view for the whole world to admire!"

I seem to recall Mussolini didn't end up on top of a lamp post  ;)

Nice shot.

That's actually one of my favorite shots of yours so far.  It makes me smile.  Like hey photo dude, check this out!  Want to see another one?! - Cormorant model... he clearly had a different occupation in his previous life.

Great shot!  Reminds me not of a Captain but of a Major I once knew (was our S3).

Aren't they some of the funniest looking birds ever, their numbers are steadily on the rise again here in the Netherlands, it always makes me smile when I'm stuck in traffic and one every single lamp post along the line of cars there is one of these creatures in the same pose you photographed here.

Great Shot, Sander
