dye printing on baryta
« on: December 01, 2014, 12:37:04 pm »

This is for anyone with experience with dye printers. My Canon Pro 100 prints beautifully on RC type papers (the strength of dye anyway) and the few fine art papers I have tried have been OK. The biggest disappointment has been with fiber/baryta type papers and I would really like to get the look of air dried B&W wet prints with color. Hahnemuhle is advertising one of their baryta types as suitable for dye printers. Does anyone here have any recommendations about such paper for dye printing? Thanks.

Tough to say, as I have used HP papers, and even the semi gloss has such a deep black it gets that high contrast wet look.  Some folks say the dye still gets better blacks than some current pigment based inks. I know that was true in the start of the transition, but I think the 12 ink setup may have bridged that gap?

The texture of the paper makes a difference, and I'm not sure about Baryta/?
