Seascapes with Canon 16-35 f4 zoom lens
« on: December 01, 2014, 09:15:39 am »

Good afternoon,

I have recently tried the above lens on my Canon 6D, and I have to say that I am impressed. The lens is sharp into the corners, and it feels better built than previous similar lenses I have used (16-35 f2.8 and 17-40 f4). I think I will get one to use on the 6D, makes for a very nice and easy to use kit.

These are some examples from a pre-dawn to dawn session from yesterday, on my usual testing ground in SW Portugal.

Kind regards

Beautiful testing ground and results… It looks like the 16-35 f/4 is on my wish list for next year.

I think this lens will be a classic and a huge success for Canon. It even seems to be better than the Sony-Zeiss 16-35 f4 for the FE cameras.

Thanks for the comment. This shot has an interesting story behind it. This photo is #3 in a sequence. I first tried a 7 minute exposure, followed by a 3 minute exposure, and then finally this one, which is a 30 second exposure. The first two shots were overexposed (but I could salvage them in LR no problem), and the water was too smooth. The texture of the water in this third shot is much more interesting.

Paulo, I also like #3 best, and agree that shorter is better.
