inkpress paper missing color profile
« on: November 17, 2014, 11:05:09 am »

I am thinking of trying some inkpress luster paper but cannot find any epson 4900 icc profiles

http://www.inkpresspaper.com/profiles.asp?PaperID=40

Does anyone know where i can find some. Have tried using the contact form on the site but no reply so far.

If I can't get a profile from them is there a way I can have one made for me. I have a few color charts from the old paper printed on the 4900, would a profile maker be able to match the same color chart printed on inkpress paper so it was a close fit to the old paper?

thanks

Use the 7900 or 9900 profile. Same inkset.
The paper mentioned belongs to the old Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl group in my opinion and may have changed meanwhile so be aware of any inconsistency between batches.

Well I thought that the text about 7900/9900 profiles on that page had some meaning. Complain more I would say. I doubt Inkpress can continue distribution of the paper quality that I measured maybe a year ago, it most likely came from the Ilford Marly coating factory that is now belly up.  If InkPress now delivers another paper quality a new profile should have been made and the customers should get a message that a new inkjet coating has been used for that quality. I see signs that other distributors of rebranded Ilford qualities either discontinued these qualities or mentioned a change in coatings. The new Ilford range is not a 1:1 match either in my opinion and the company does not make that clear to its customers.

If you have the same quality paper I measured for SpectrumViz then it is an Ilford clone then find 4900 profiles for the old Ilford etc qualities that are similar. Their names are in the SpectrumViz screengrab I added here.
