Tree in Fog
« on: November 09, 2014, 11:04:47 am »

Shot this in the Hoh Forrest area of Olympic National Park in Washington.  I went to the forrest for early morning shots and was on my way out when I ran into fog in a nearby valley.  Noticed this area from the road, pulled over and spent about 1/2 hour shooting as the fog moved and lifted.  Really liked this image.  Shot with a Fuji X-E1 and 55-200 lens at 55mm, f/11, ISO 200 at 1/25.

Thanks
Ron

Gorgeous! Well seen, captured and processed. Once you know what you're doing (which is evident from the photo), timing is everything!

Thanks for the comments.  This really was an example of serendipity in photography.  I wanted sunrise images in the forrest and really didn't get anything.  However, because I was up, drove out there and kept my eyes open I got an unexpected opportunity that resulted in a pretty nice image.  I have several of these "unplanned" keepers!  I think that is the way photography really works.

I can only add my congrats to previous comments. I love how the tree on the right seems detached from the fog.
You can be proud of this image, really!

As you say, this really is how photography works. And why we go out well before dawn, like surfers and fishermen, hoping for the great unexpected .
