NEC PA272W on MacBook Pro: can't get beyond 1920x1200 resolution
« on: November 08, 2014, 07:47:46 pm »

Hello Folks
I purchased the NEC PA272W and run it on my 17" MacBook Pro (VIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB) on OS 10.9.5

I connected the display to the laptop via the NEC supplies mini-displayport to displayport cable.

I can't get the resolution up to the 2560 full size.

If I go into system preferences > displays in OS X, it shows under "scaled" a maximum available resolution of 1920x1200, and that is what I am currently on.

I thought that the NEC supplied cable should be no problem.

Any hints for how to get to the full 2560 x 1440 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Peter

I think your answer might be trying the Apple Mini Display Port to Dual - Link DVI Adapter.  They are $99 at the Apple Store.  Look it up online for specs.

Cabling should not be the issue. Display Port will run a much higher resolution than a dual link DVI. Are you running the monitor in Mirrored or extended mode?
