Heading to Alpa Today
« on: November 08, 2014, 12:44:54 pm »

In about 6 hours from now, Anthony Festa (CI Manager of Technical Services) and I will be on a plane headed to Switzerland for a week of the Alpa Treatment:)

Otherwise known as advanced training on the Alpa products. Needless to say, we are very much looking forward to it! We invited Alpa to the USA last January to spend some time with us and help get us more quickly get up to speed on their products (we picked up the Alpa line in fall of 2013), and we've continued to increase our knowledge base since then, but spending a week at Alpa HQ is a great opportunity to get more depth on some of the products and situations we've encountered in their use. As well as to meet the entire Alpa team.

Can't wait!

We'll try and check in from time to time on the trip, but certainly will have a full report upon our return.

Jim - your 17 on the FPS would be great for your significant architecture  project.

Steve,
Hope you and Anthony have a great trip. The Alpa team has done some very impressive things with the FPS. The Rollei lens adapter with full control is really amazing.

Cameron, that would be cool, the 24 covers the 645 format as well!  Apparently I can put my Mamiya lenses on it and proprietary Alpa-mount lenses too.  With a cmos back that allowed for live view it might be just the ticket!

I realize I left some people hanging on what exactly we did during our visit, so below is a wrap up from the 4 days Anthony Festa and I spent at Alpa:

Unfortunately this wound up being a work trip, other than the nice boat ride one evening. No sight seeing. One quick trip into Paris on the way in (4 hour layover) and a quick trip in Amsterdam on the way back (4 hour layover). The last day in Zurich we were going to spend leisurely, but then we realized Sinar was only a 20 minute train ride and visited with them.

Maybe next time!

Unfortunately, our trip to Sinar was only for a couple hours, just time to catch up and share a nice lunch.
