Epson 7880 won't take 12x12 paper
« on: November 04, 2014, 09:01:57 pm »

I can't get my 7880 to take 12x12 paper.
The suction starts up but when I go to put the lever down the paper just falls out.
My understanding was that it takes letter size or larger.

I have driver version 9.17 and am on a Mac running OSX  version 10.9.5

Any help appreciated, thank you

If you are loading by raising the lever try holding the paper in position and closing the lever.

If you are feeding sheets you might try just setting the paper in the printer without raising the lever, aligning the right side. it should then prompt you to hit pause or down. Easier and more reliable way to load sheets.

Thank you, it worked perfectly.

I have another problem printing on 12x12 paper on the 7880.
It won't allow me to leave just a small boarder around a 12x12 image in order to frame almost to the edge of the print.
I can do this with my 3880 just by shrinking the print size from 100% to 98.5% (in the printer dialogue box).

No such luck with the 7880, it forces an approximately 1/2" boarder at the bottom edge, thus cutting off part of the image.
I've tried to "trick" it into thinking it has a custom paper size of 12x13, but still chooses the same bottom boarder. I'm guessing that that's what it allows for gripping the paper.

Is there no way around this?
The reason I don't just use the 3880 is that I keep it running with PK and the 7880 using MK.

sorry, the printer has a minimum bottom border to .56 inches.  It was designed mainly for roll paper, unlike the 3880 which was designed for sheets. So the roll printers can't grip the paper far enough to get closer than that.

The only way around it is to print it so you can trim the edge.  Either a larger size, or use roll paper.
