I'm new to video but have a need for raw full sensor images and contemplating using my 5D III.  I've viewed most of the youtube.com videos on the subject and everyone warns of the possibility of it turning your camera "into a brick" etc.  I have not seen any youtube videos of anyone actually saying it happened.  I'm thinking that maybe ML is being super cautions for their own protection (understandable)--look at all of the pharmaceutical ads on TV lol.

If you have had a serious consequence, I'd appreciate knowing--I don't want to ruin my camera.
I'm more concerned about actual serious, permanent damage, rather than things that can be corrected by taking the battery out and rebooting.

If this has been answered somewhere else, refer me the link please.  Thank you for taking the time to help--It's appreciated.

I know a few people who tried it on 550d's (they wouldn't risk it on the main cameras) But they all worked fine with no problems.
Personally as I use my cameras for work I wouldn't risk it unless I could aford to replace or repair the camera if it went wrong.  It'll probably be ok but it's a gamble with a few K's worth of kit.

Never heard of anyone who actually bricked an ML camera.

ML people are cautious just in case someone who installs ML improperly (ie with low battery level) decides to sue them or something.
But again, the fear existed 2-3 years ago when ML still was not widely spread.

My thoughts exactly.  I've been checking with several sources and no bricks reporter or even major problems that I can find.  I'm going to go forward with it.

Thanks for replying
