Well... on my " calibrated LaCie 324" if you're going to do the name dropping thing
... it does show all of the colors but the monitor has nothing to with it, now does it.
It is about how the subject was photographed. It feels as if it was shot with a tele lens which tends to flatten the image. Where is the intro into the dunes and the "eye road" thru the image?
Exactly what is drawing you into the image?? His name at the lower left?
The line of grasses isn't doing it, the sand in front isn't, the small plants in the front aren't organized enough to form any sort of pull into the dunes. so, where does the eye start to enter the image? It's all on the same visual plane. There just isn't enough separation.
Of course, all of this is purely my opinion based on my years of photographing, just as your opinion is based on yours.
