Feelings on 645z- saving up for it!!!
« on: October 17, 2014, 06:42:32 pm »

Aloha,

Beautiful work on the tree shot!

Still working with my old 645D
I don't think there ever was a piece of gear I want more than the Z
Unless it is the 25mm which will sit on front of it most of the time.

Working with the 35mm is ok, backing up and cropping back in
Is ok, other than losing so much of the image resolution in doing so.
My plan of attack will be lens first body second.
D as the back up.

I am so pleased to hear Michael that the camera continues to open up as you use it more
I too still find this the case with the D
To imagine a camera that is worlds apart from the D really gets me excited!

Hawaii in December? Which island?
Kauai is arguably the most photogenic
But Maui on the road to Hana will offer some nice opportunities.

One of my favorite locations would be very easy for you to get to
It is at the end of the road on Kauai. The road dead ends at ke'e beach
There are two trails: one is the legendary kalalaua trail which at 11.4 mile in and the same back
I would only recommend to very fit. Capable and determined hikers

The other trail starts right on the beach and just goes a few easy hundred feet.
There is a real nice rock field at the tide line and the tall cliffs of the north shore fade of into the distance.
A particular small finger bay creates a great wave pattern, the location can be shot any time of the day! And sunsets here can be nothing short of spectacular.
December can be a bit rainy here but will still be worlds better than your weather at that time.
Please feel free to drop me a line if you are on Oahu, I would be honored to give you a lift to some locations here.

Man, for sure that's the truth! (I live just outside Detroit, a few hours away by car or train from Michael's nominal home base.)

Planning to spend a couple weeks on the Big Island early-ish next year…don't think I'll be taking my 645D rig but you never know.   :)
