Great capture !

Especially with yellows which tend to saturate the sensor easily.

Aloha,

Thanks.
Yes and the early morning light was perfect!
Wish it was calmer for better reflections
But within 20 minutes the wind had picked up and they were worst. And more light came in....

I like the spacing of the aspens, which gives the shot an extra boost that puts it above the bulk of yellow aspen shots (a tough subject, given its popularity).

This is what a 9 or 10 stop ND filter is for. :)

I love so much about this piece!! Especially the patches of yellow  in the upper part. It seems to counterpoint the lower mass of color nicely.

2 thumbs up!

Aloha,

I use grads a lot, I don't think they would have gotten me what I wanted from this shot
I like your thinking though...

For me it was a rare day, I got three or four images that I will publish to prints, well at least three
but maybe I'm just so happy to see fall colors as (pity me) I live in Hawaii, where our weather is pretty much; spring and summer, approaching tropical storm Ana not withstanding!

Aloha,
As a side note and bonus;
The Fish Lake aspen colony"pando" is considered
To be the oldest living organism in the world
Two of the shots posted are in the Pando colony.
