Free access to all sorts of goods things, but
« on: November 25, 2005, 07:47:28 am »

Good day Michael,
LL, DPR and other sites have so much to offer.  They're much better than photomags which consumers need to pay for.  Just wandering why we have free access to LL and how long this free access will last? (not that I want it to change, but just curious)

Have you considered buying a subscription to the Luminous Landscape Video Journal DVDs? It is quite clear that the intent is for that revenue to support this "free" website. Many, if not the majority, of serious visitors have subscribed.

As an aside, the LLVJ DVDs would be worth the investment even if the accompaning Luminous Landscape website didn't exist.

I encourage you to check it out!

If things go as planned, I'll know what's under the tree this Christmas!

Bob got it right. The Video Journal supports the site. Somethinb has to pay the bills, and that's how it happens here. Other sites have advertising. It's my personal preference not to.

I fully expect things to stay that way as long as people keep subscribing.

I agree with Bob.   I enjoy getting the DVD's. I would probably purchase even without LL  Great information

Warning: (if you are like me) the subscription can be very costly when you learn of all the new gadgets that you can buy and must have, not to mention the updated digital cameras and accessories.

Oh yeah...

For about 2 years I dumped about $10k on stuff first discovered on the LLVJ.

My retirement accounts now thank Michael for toning down the equipment segments a bit in recent issues.

It all started so innicentely with an Acratech ball head.
