printing digital negatives
« on: September 29, 2014, 09:04:57 pm »

i had my epson 3880 printer stolen over my vacation and since the 7880 uses the same inks and they didn't steal my 7880, could i use the 7880 to print digital negatives. on researching the subject some people say it is more difficult.

Mate, sorry, struggling to understand the question. If by digital negative you mean DNG files then you can't really print from them directly. You either print from an application (which I never do) and use the adjustments and profiles that application provides or you export as a TIF or JPG and print using a RIP (which I do).

David,

By "digital negatives" do you mean transparencies that can then be used to make traditional silver gelatin (darkroom) prints?

we've done quite a few negatives on our 9900. I can't see why a 7900 would have a problem.
