Summer's Last Moment (v2)
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:08:49 pm »

A warmer process (~4100K) and a bit more attention in the dodge and burn areas.

Canon 6D, Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L - 15s, ISO 6400

Any thoughts on the warmer WB vs the typical cool temps are very welcome.

Looks amazing as is Dave, Not sure if that is noise or the endless stars in the light areas of the water, that would
be my only nit.

Nice shot.  I actually tend to prefer milky way shots to be a little warmer than what is typically presented.  Yours is very warm, which gives it a completely different feel.  I don't know if it is necessarily good or bad, just different.

I would consider desaturating some of the blues out of some of the stars though, and I would probably prefer it if the reflected stars were cloned out... it looks a little messy to me as you can only see a few.

Hi Dave,

This photo is all about the colors - black gold, and magenta make for a wonderful combination.
My opinion is to chop the off the bottom 1/2 of water, (about 1/8 of the bottom photo) to make it less
bottom heavy.  I think it is being kept there unnecessarily.
You're only getting about 4 extra star reflections, not enough IMO to sacrifice overall composition.
Great photo otherwise.

Hi Dave
I would be happy to have produced either but I prefer the cooler version.

I go with the cooler version as well. The warm setting tends to "muddy" the foreground a bit too much for my liking.
