Albert Falls Storm
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:12:24 am »

I have had this for a while now and only just though about it in B&W.

What do you think?

I think I'd crop off the bottom and regard it as a nicely dramatic cloudscape. The lights on the left are just a distraction.

I'm a professional cropper, but I wouldn't crop this one. I think the small houses supply needed information regarding scale of the scene as well as location cues. I also like the whites of the building offsetting the bright areas on the right.

+1. Oh, and William, I really like the drama in it. I have a couple like this. One's hanging in our living room.

I always enjoy a good storm shot.  This is a nice one. I agree about not cropping but would zap the bright leftmost white spot.

A fine, pastoral image, with a great tonal range.

Another fine image worth commenting on. Wonderful drama, light and tone. I would love to see more of the foreground field, though, as it provides such a great contrast to the rest of the scene.

Thanks for sharing, William.

Thanks for the comments.

Jeremy, I immediately looked at your suggestions, but, I'm afraid I'm with lou on this one!

Terry, that was the best I could do. That is sugarcane growing there and I stood as tall as I could, anything in front of what I have here is a "wall" of cane!

Slobodan, that tonal range is what I liked and cannot wait to see the Piezography print which should handle those tonal gradations very well.

I am off to Mkuze Game Reserve, Tembe Elephant Park and then into Mozambique for five days. Hopefully I get something decent!

The original is just fine William. As you have noticed only one dissenting voice which is a resounding yes for the image.

Fair enough. It was just a thought. I confess to being deeply jealous of your African adventure.

Great shot and for once I agree no crop. Terrific the way the clouds and the wheat field sort of grasp the image between them.

Like this shot a lot.

Late to the party, but I like it just fine, as is.
