There is a new firmware for the Epson 7900/9900.

Epson USA.
In usual Epson fashion, the release notes are pretty cryptic: "This update improves printer functionality."
The Japanese site has a bit more info: "corresponds to changes in specifications of the LCD panel in mass production" (Rough Google translation, could any Japanese speaker confirm the translation?)
I applied the update without any problem and I haven't noticed any change.
