Need Help In Choosing Which NIK Software to get
« on: September 04, 2014, 10:48:39 am »

I am not sure which NIK software to buy. The Color Effects Pro 4 or Nik Collection or ??????   I would like to use it on my portraits and landscapes.  Thank you,

As far as I know you can now only buy the collection for 149.00 USD.  It is a very useful set of tools for the price.

I second Kevin's advice. I find many of the other plugins useful enough to go for the collection. Vivesa uses pins for a type of local correction that I find very useful at times.

Here are my indispensable image tools:
1. Photoshop
2. Nik Dfine2  To remove all unwanted noise
3. Nik Presharpener For all images to be monitor-viewed as sharp
4. Nik Output sharpener A must for printed output to look sharp*
5. Nik Silver Efex Pro 2  Super b/w converter in auto mode with full controls also.

* If you're using this properly the image will look AWFUL on your monitor. Print it anyway. Trust me, you'll throw away prints you made without this tool.
