There's a lot to see and photograph between Moab and Yellowstone.  I've done that drive well over a dozen times and have taken several different routes, all of which have gone through some pretty spectacular country.

Here are a few areas to consider:

Logan Canyon
Steamboat Springs
Dinosaur NM
Mesa Falls
Wasatch Mountains, i.e. Albion Basin
Uinta Mountains - Mirror Lake Highway
Flaming Gorge
Grand Teton NP

All of these locations can be on your way to Yellowstone depending upon which route you decide to drive.  It's about a 10 hour drive if you take the most direct route.  Giving yourself two days allows enough time for a wee bit of exploration but not much, especially if you take a meandering route.

While in Moab, stop in at my gallery if you have questions about the area.  Either I or my wife will be there and we're both happy to answer questions about our backyard.  It's The Edge Gallery at 137 N. Main St., right next door to the best breakfast place in town - The Love Muffin.

Thanks, PeterAit, for the endorsement. We very much appreciate it! ;D

Yep. That's all good stuff. Dinosaur has the additional benefit of spectacular natural beauty, and whimsical kitschy weirdness, all in one package.
