Is anyone useing ML AutoETTR for landscapes?
« on: August 18, 2014, 06:41:50 am »

Hi,
I´ve been useing UniWB for many years with good results but this autoETTR from magic lantern seems a better option. I´ve just installed it and it seems to work well, I have it to activate with double half shutter press, the camera then opens LV for a few seconds while it adjusts exposure with shutter speed as far right as posible but without blowing any pixels. It is also posible to set a % of pixels it can overexpose.
As anyone tried this for landscape photogaphy?

Thanks
Mark

Which camera are you using? I've been waiting for a semi-official release for the 6D to try this.

I haven't quite gotten the courage to test something like that on my main money making camera yet.

I have been using it now for several months, but not the auto function, raw histogram with raw zebras...

It works quite well, also I have to setup image review to 4 seconds to be able to see the zebras there... The play option of the images just show the JPEG histogram, not the raw one (although I am not 100% sure about this)

Also using a nighty build

Hi David,
Yes I´m not sure about that either, it would be good to find out.  I´m surprised more people are´t useing this to have a raw histogram maybe everyone is useing Nikon now for landscapes.

Hi Mark,

From reading this thread in ML forum: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5149.25 , I understand that after the 4 seconds review, when you push the play button, it just show you the JPEG histogram. But then again, I should stop being lazy and do some tests with my 5D :) .

Well, I understand people switching to Nikon for landscape thanks to those more than interesting Sony sensors with their high resolution high dynamic range... I just don't earn enough to start switching all my lens collection from one brand to another...

Regards,

David
