Off the diet

Taken at this year's Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, hence the World war 2 battle dress.

Nice portrait, even without the tongue in cheek caption and background (but they sure add to the pleasure  ;))

Another good head shot, Stamper. More context might have turned it into a street photograph.

Russ you obviously haven't photographed the Fringe in Edinburgh? Very crowded with people tripping over each other and photographers stepping in front of each other. It is like a war zone. I resorted to shooting low and holding my Lumix gx7 over my head using a small tripod as an extension with a cable release. The "context" you refer to would add unnecessary clutter to the image.

Hell Stamper, for a moment there I thought you (like Ray) had also found an old slide from your younger days, but then I realised that would be World War 1!

I haven't photographed the Fringe in Edinburgh, Stamper, but I understand the problem. I've been in plenty of similar situations and I know that you have to do what you have to do, and you get what you can get. Good shooting.

A lovely sharp shot with a lovely use of the OOF area.

Maybe this is a photo that belongs to a photo essay on the Fringe Festival, which would give it context without changing this single image in any way.

Was this lady aware that you had taken her photograph?

No she wasn't aware. I was shooting from waist height using a Lumix GX7 with the Lcd in a horizontal position. I saw her at the last second, tilted the camera up and pressed the shutter only once. I was surprised that it came out as good as it did. In essence a grab shot. :)
