Lightroom 4 to Photoshop 5 as Smart Object
« on: August 10, 2014, 10:21:16 am »

Do you always edit in photoshop from lightroom as a smart object?  I'm thinking it would be a more flexible approach because I can go back and edit the raw file within photoshop.  Still, I can't get back to lightroom but only adobe camera raw so I'm not sure if it is worth it.  I've been trying to experiment on my own using Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5, but can't seem to figure it out.  When I try to Open in Smart Object from lightroom 4, I just get a blank photoshop file.

1. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I open my lightroom 4 raw file as a smart object in photoshop cs5?

2. Is this the standard workflow I should be adopting going from lightroom to photoshop?

Thanks,
Hugh

I don't always edit as a SO, because then you can't retouch it in PS.
