shimmer on Sony a7r?
« on: August 03, 2014, 07:49:49 pm »

Hello I got the Sony a7r like 3 months ago and I love it...but is anyone else get a shimmering effect in the electronic viewfinder? It's not the focus peaking as I have that off. It seems like a moire pattern, especially bad in areas like with high contrast. Like if I take a pic across the street of my neighbors' window shutters I see this on the shutters alot. It seems less with a tripod.

THanks!

Assuming you don't have zebras turned on. I have seen moiré in the EVF at times with non-native lenses and apertures stopped down, but I can't remember seeing it with FE lenses.

With the older Olympus mirrorless cameras, Kirk Tuck described just out of focus areas having a shimmer that sounds similar to what you describe, which he used to assist manual focus since the cameras didn't have focus peaking.  Not sure if this relates to what you are experiencing though.
