DIY Tripod Strap
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:43:56 pm »

If you have a spare shoulder strap from a duffel bag, messenger bag or other shoulder bag, and need a carrying strap for a tripod, I have a solution for you. If the strap is adjustable and has a snap/hook on each end, it can easily be attached to a tripod using two (2) plastic luggage ID closed loops. One of the plastic loops can be attached around the tripod near the tripod head mount. Because the upper loop is secured around the top part of the tripod it will not come off during transport of the tripod. The second loop is secured around the lower end of the tripod where the legs telescope up from the ground. After securing each plastic loop to the tripod, the shoulder strap can easily be snapped onto each loop. Since I had several spare straps, and I found the plastic loops for securing a luggage ID tag at a local FedEx office, a carrying strap for a Manfrotto 290 tripod cost me nothing!
