Chloride Cliff, Death Valley

Early morning glow on Grapevine Mountains and first rays on Corkscrew Peak.  More in my blog post, including a small video clip of the drive up.

Beautiful subtle colours, in particular on the Grapevine Mtns. Lots of detail.

Lovely pastel colours in #1. Still, my favourite is #2, for the golden light, and the curve of the shadow zone on the bottom, almost like hugging the light.

The subtlety of structure and colours in #1 is engaging.

Thanks, gentlemen.  I had gone in thinking I would shoot looking towards Death Valley, but the opposite direction turned out to be more fruitful.
