An interesting article. Whilst some of his earlier stuff is a bit "gap year", Geoff Dyer's an entertaining critic. For those not familiar with it here's a link to a review of his "The Ongoing Moment".

I'd attend this show but as a Londoner who got an early release from the place (for moderately good behaviour) after a 30 year stretch, I hate London more every time I set foot back there. A summer exhibition at the R.A.... As Ernest Thesiger remarked when asked what the war (ie WW1) was like in France, "Oh, my dear, the noise! and the people!"

What's wrong with London? It's a nice quiet little place with a few good restaurants and pubs. The people who live there seem very respectable, most of them work in banks, it seems, and are quite well paid.
