Prefer the first.

Is it really so "detailed" or is the processing a bit aggressive ?!

We have some rocks like that in Europe, but they appear more "soft".

Have a Nice day.

I like those two images but I have a preference for the second one. The first one makes me think to Indian Blanket near Mexican Hat.
Well done!

Thank you, Thierry and Francois.

Thierry,  the striped facet is not as smooth as it appears from a distance.  See attached file for a screen grab of the RAW file at 100% with default ACR settings and no additional processing applied.

Hi,

I prefer the second. Regarding the processing, I would say it is always to taste, but I have seen quite a few post from the Rajan and I generally like his processing.

Exporting an image for the web may have it's own issues, as downsizing any image always introduces some aliasing. That could be the case here. Imaging professionals blur the image before downsizing and sharpen after conversion. I am pretty sure this is a best practice in image processing.

Thanks for sharing,anyway!

Best regards
Erik

Great work, Rajan; both are top notch. Just a thought...the first photograph might be enhanced with the background values dropped ½ to a full stop. As it is now, I find my eye too easily wanders into the background, not a bad thing, but it disrupts what to me is the natural flow.

Thanks, all.

Terry - Good point.  I am still experimental with the look, and am going to print a couple of interpretations.

Lovely light, and both good interpretations of the subject.
