Ghosts
« on: June 25, 2014, 08:40:15 am »

In De Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam, a young woman holding her baby intently watches a video at the 2014 World Photo Press exhibition while, around her, hurrying figures are reduced to wraiths by the camera's slow shutter speed.

A cracker, Seamus.  It has much to say about the general level of interest in what is exhibited at these beanos.  Hardly even another faltering pause from anyone else.  Curiosity, such a fatally flawed element in the feline world, begs me to ask:  what shutter speed?

Cheers,

W

Great image.
The data says 1 second.

Yes, one second - camera resting on a nearby flat surface, all very improvised.

Thanks for the kind comment, all

It's all been said. Not much to add but show us more like this. Very creative.

Can't think of any superlatives that hasn't already been expressed. The best image I have seen on here for a long time!

Quote
You should want to create images that feel as if they are about
to move or were caught as if they were already in motion. One
more time: A still photograph is called a still photograph be-
cause the picture doesn’t move, not because the objects in the
picture are not in motion. You can capture motion with still-
ness
and, in that moment, hold time still, but yet experience
the feeling of its passing.

Who are you quoting, Isaac? A quotation isn't complete without an attribution.

seamus, for what it is worth your fine image has prompted me to try - once again - to do the slow shutter speed effect. I have a small sturdy cullman tripod which is useful for this type of photography. Like all other types it is hard work to get something useful. :)
