One could use use a quick-release plate for switching various payloads.

I am afraid that when I see the drones, I think of some videos shown on Petapixel: 1. Photographer attachs  SLR to drone rated for GoPro, flies it once without outright disaster, then sends it up again and over a lake in Iceland - and it plummets into the icy water. 2. National Geographic photographer with custom-built drone for assignment on Chinese gorges flies the drone down through the very narrow gorge, then loses control and the drone crashes into the gorge wall and drops onto the rocks. Next move: rappel down the gorge to get the camera and drone....

I am waiting for scenario #3: Bored bald eagle sees drone flying slowly. Sick bird? Some kind of food? Eagle nabs drone.

I've been flying a Ricoh GR with the DJI Phantom 2. With its outstanding lens and APS-C sensor, image quality is easily comparable to the Canon 5Dmk3 (in fact better if the lens used is the 24-105). The only real limitation compared to the S1000 + 5Dmk3 + 24/2.8 rig is the lack of a gimbal. Total system costs 5 times less and fits in a Think Tank airport acceleration backpack which is carry-on size, though. Here's an example: http://on.fb.me/1pBYGjT
