Thanks, Slobodan. I'll give it a shot but it was really quite bright.

This is about all I can get out of the light without getting a muted gray, which I detest.

Have you tried painting with a yellow or orange brush? Or cloning/healing, using sky area as a source?

I did. Looks a bit unnatural...but most likely because I know what it looked like before...

Would something like this be more acceptable? I think it takes care of the blown branches a bit as well. Of course, I was working with a small jpeg, RAW might offer a better result.

Hmmmm, after the lightning stops, I'll give it a try. Love my APC but don't trust them either or.

That looks about right. If you increase Clarity with a brush (across the sun only), you'll get darker branches.
