Mountain Laurels in Bloom
« on: June 16, 2014, 03:19:53 pm »

I was mountain biking north of New York City in the Hudson Highlands and the Mountain Laurels are in bloom -- subtly spectacular scenery.  Those in the the East with access to the mountains should be able to get some great shots.

The mountain laurel finished blooming a month ago here in Georgia. But, I'm heading up to Roan Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina this weekend. I'm hoping to find laurel, rhododendron and flame azaleas in bloom there.

Later,

I was actually going to note that further south they probably already bloomed and further north not yet.  I have never seen the Azaleas and Rhododendrons in the Smokey Mountains but I here its spectacular.
