Replacement for Moab Entrada
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:17:56 pm »

I need to buy a couple of 36" rolls of matte brigh lightly textured paper.

I like the kind of surface the Moab Entrada 300 paper has, I like it much better than the "Velvet" mold make surface of many of the fine art textured papers.

Anyone knows of a cheaper alternative with a bright surface and similar texture?

Epson hot press bright is smooth and the cold press bright is lightly textured.  Both very nice papers.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the suggestion, I have used both, the Cold press version has that repetitive texture pattern that I don't like, the Hot press is lovely and print really nice but I would prefer something with a bit more texture on it. I guess a different texture, more organic than the velvet weave on in Epsons.
The paper color in the bright option of the epsons is just perfect.

I know, I am being the perfect case of champagne taste with Coke budget  :)

I love the texture of both Hahnemuhle
Torchon and William Turner.

Red River's Aurora comes close but in weight. The bright white versions of both Entrada and Aurora show the same yellowing in time too :-) The roll size width of Aurora is limited to 24".  HM Photorag is less expensive than Entrada over here and I trust it more, the bright white version will yellow too but not that fast. The bright white versions of the Epson's Cold and Hot Press seem to stand time better than any other paper with OBAs.

Hi Roberto
Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures, you can describe a paper for hours and never get close to fully describe it until you see it.
The museum Etching looks nice, but the Torchon is just beautiful, very natural, like watercolor paper
