Suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking. And thanks to the forum for steering me to the sweet spot at this place.

You got the trinity - the lagoon, the berg at the beach, and the sister lagoon.  Well done!

I've been stewing over what to say about these photographs. There is something intriguing about them (knowing that it's Iceland?), but, at the same time, they are not photos I would consider for "the wall", I think because they appear dramatic, but are, in fact, drab, yet an accurate portrayal of the elements, but everything seems so far away, yet there are so many layers leading into and through each scene. Okay enough of stream of consciousness... They are compelling, but not, and I've not quite put my finger on it.

My favourite is #3, IMO the light in the other two is not very interesting, so the overall landscape and grand vista does not work. With 33, the subject has enough interest, and enough relationship between the diferente planes, to lift the photo to a higher level.

I rather agree with Terry. You weren't blessed with good light and as a result the photos are flat and lack interest. The third is much the best, but even it is lacking that certain, indefinable something.

I'll bet it was a great place to be, though.

I think I can define it - the eye is being guided out of the frame. One culprit is the bright area of sky, so I'd burn in from the top left. The other is how the line of the sand bows outwards - imagine it straight or bowing inwards and cradling the scene. I wonder if cropping one side (the right) would address this - if you don't want to warp it into shape in Photoshop, that is.

Many thanks for both the positive and the, um, objective comments. All useful.

Good suggestions, John. I have a few more images and will keep your comments in mind as I work on them.

Jeremy, it was a very special place to visit. I haven't begun to convey the constant cries of the terns, the roaring of the surf, the seals frolicking, and a heady mix of glacier and sea air at 6 °C.

I hope you do get to go soon, Jeremy. Iceland is indeed a fantastic place for photography. I was there just once in 1974 and I'd love to get there again.
Even if you go in "Summer," be prepared to wear many layers of clothing. The winds can be wild and the weather is extremely variable.

+1, too. Seems positively overwhelming: the space, the shapes , the contrasts. The cold?...I'm used to!

Run, don't walk. My expectations were high and were exceeded in every way. Most days were a three "WOW!" day.

OTOH puffins were scarce, but finally spotted in the sea at Vik.
