Profiling the new NEC PA272W LED Monitor.
« on: May 14, 2014, 11:45:12 am »

I just purchased this wonderful new monitor. It arrived yesterday, I also have a PA271W that has served me well for the last two years. With that, I also purchased Spectraview II software along with the New SpectraSensor Pro calorimeter.
The difference between these monitors is very apparent right away as the new anti glare coating  makes for a much sharper picture.
Last night I went to calibrate the new monitor, but my old Spectraview II software says it doesn't recognize the PA272W as at the bottom it says (Unsupported)
I hope its just the software and not the sensor. I will be talking to B&H later today.

You may need to upgrade the software. 1.1.17 seems to be the latest build.

In SpectraView II choose Help>Check for updates, download and install the latest rev. 1.1.17 - it will recognise the PA272W, 100%

go to http://necdisplay.com and download a more recent version (if you got a CDROM, I'm sure its out of date).

You need version 1.1.16 or .17 for the 272W display

Hi Czornyj,

I went to the NEC web site where they have the Software for $89.00.
But if I understand you correctly, I can update the software from within the program, yes?

Yes, just download it from here and install
http://www.necdisplay.com/support-and-services/spectra-view-II/Downloads

It will recognise and uninstall the previous version and install the latest rev. automatically, no activation key or new license will be necessary.

Thanks everyone, the new monitor is up and running.
There is one other thing I was wondering about, can make and run separate profiles for both monitors?

Not with SpectraView (unless you've got two).

The OP indicated that the 'other' monitor is a PA271W so if that is true, then he can use Spectraview to create profiles for both/either.

Just to be clear, did you mean two separate copy's of SpectraView running?
It won't really matter as the second monitor will be used for tools, I sort of figured I could only have one profile.

No, just one. It shold detect each display, you should see a popup menu that will show which is which, select the one you want to calibrate. And no, you'll have two profiles if you calibrate each.

There are two separate Display Port connections on the graphics card, and I'm using both, if that makes any difference.
