Bruce,
I'm actually more interested in the metaphor contained in the image and in your title. Not being familiar with mockingbird eggs, are you saying here that the eggs are dead like the leaf and therefore the mockingbirds that would hatch are silent? Sorry...I've been writing this morning and I see this as a haiga.

No, it is a temporal effect. [Their parents were still quite interested]  They are too young and inclosed [they may have been muttering "quietly], and for all I know may have little to say for themselves.  But I thought someone should.

Had it not made the title too long I would have included something about the generational difference between the birds and the leaf.  Time glues a lot of stuff together.

If this post-processing makes them look dead, I may need to do something about it.  The act of cramming the camera and tripod into the foliage makes the nest look neglected by raining debris into it.  However, it also generated my good luck of the talking leaf.  I try not to be in complete control of my technique.

I'm really, really good at that one.  ;)

Interesting colours on the eggs - almost solarised in appearance.

Yes, they are solarized by the Difference setting under Apply Image.  Three other Apply Image modes were applied as well.

Attached is a more representative detail in case you are looking for Mockingbirds.

The new one works for me. I could stand for pumping up the leaf a little bit toward the original, but leave the leaves alone.

Hi Bruce

This is my first comment on your work - often you leave me wondering what the hell you smoke (and that I would not mind a puff of it!)

The original image and - particularly the title - somehow connected with me and I think I have finally seen the same thing you have! (No, I have not been smoking..)

I really like the original post and no further explanations or variations are necessary.

Thanks.  This may not be necessary, but I like it a little better.  Without changing the general idea of the first version, I have circled around it considerably.
