I prefer to keep this plate attached to my camera (Sony a65, Panasonic G2) with various lenses. The fold-out tightening ring seems ideal for attaching a sliding shoulder strap such as Black Rapid, etc. Does anyone have any idea of the load strength of the ring? I've tried it with the Sony with a 28-75 2.8 lens, total weight about 1 kilo, holding it over the bed and shaking it vigorously and it seemed OK, but I don't want to try it in the field and have it give way over pavement. Other solutions just add too many things to the camera. Any ideas or suggestions?
