Monitor calibration targets for video
« on: April 23, 2014, 03:41:55 pm »

I'm starting to do some light video work for a few clients using a GH3.  But my question concerns the proper monitor calibration for creating these videos.

I have a NEC PA271 and Spectraview. What specs do you use to calibrate?

Suggestions, please!

See page 39 of the manual (SpectraView includes several industry standard targets for a variety of applications). I suspect Broadcast Video, Digital Cinema?

What is the final delivery?

If it is on a computer or other devices - just look at some computers and devices around your office.

Seriously I think calibration can put you off what your public will see..

They are for the web, and maybe a tv inside the product (motorhome) at a show.

I was thinking just standard srgb would be the best choice.

I haven't done video with my NEC PA242W and SV2 software.  However, when I set SV2 Target Settings to Broadcast Video, SMPTE-C is selected as the Color Gamut.    When I Google SMPTE-C, one of the results says that this is normal Color for broadcast Video.  Maybe this will help. http://www5.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/lehre/vorlesungen/graphik/info/csc/COL_30.htm

Good luck.

But a broadcast monitor is not the same as a web device.
