Just to make it perfectly clear, the "30%" I mentioned was based on the present state of this pool (31.6% unsatisfied users).
Sure, not a huge base (yet), but from my personal experience (my own and lots of real life friends who are professional or amateur printers) it sounds about right.

I have both Canon 8300 & Epson 11880 and I'm generally happy with both.  They work for me and make me income!  However next time around, I'll go with Canon.

NO!
My third large format Epson in 10 years, which is a 9900. After only 2 years of very light printing (10 prints a week on average), I had to replace the print head. $2000 for a print head???
My money will be going elsewhere on the next printer.

If an Epson 3880 qualifies as a LFP I guess I'm very satisfied based on print quality.  However it is *always* clogged when I get ready to print and usually requires a power clean which eats a lot of ink.   The good news is it always unclogs on the first try.  I've never had to do more than a power clean to unclog it, but it scares me.  I would have bought a 4900 by now to print canvas if the Epson horror stories didn't scare me away from spending more than the 3880 cost me.  I bought the 3880 after I had to put an ancient 2400 in the trash can when it became hopelessly clogged.  I would buy a 4900 tomorrow if it had a user replaceable head that limited my risk.

BTW, I print about every two weeks and try to do a test print at least once a week.  I live in arid California if humidity really matters.

I printed epson for years, kilometres of paper, countless litres of ink, and all the time I thought I was satisfied.  Then I bought a canon and discovered what a piece of junk the epson actually is.

No... Just about 30% as it seems!  :D

...and the whole satisfied rest is using SP3880 ::)
