9900 Printing in OS X 10.9(Mavericks)
« on: March 31, 2014, 12:12:40 pm »

Just a short and to the point query.  Is anyone experiencing issues printing to the 9900 from OS X 10.9 Mavericks.  I'm considering upgrading from 10.7.5 on a clone first, but would like to know of any issues I should be looking for.

Any and all replies will be much appreciated.

Short answer, YES!

Read this: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=FAQs&oid=237343

Turning off the greyed out color management checkbox needs a patch from Adobe.

You can do it!  ;)

Might have some issues with your scanner too, but that's another matter.  >:(

Thanks for the reply SG,

Even though everything is working well in 10.7.5 I feel it's about time to do an OS upgrade, although I'm usually not eager to do so this soon in a newish OS.  As a matter of fact I'm generally a couple of years or more behind the curve.  If there's no particular need to do so I keep plugging along with what I have and don't worry about possible issue I might encounter with the latest upgrade.  I have downloaded Mavericks, but I also have Mountain Lion and have not yet installed it.  Perhaps that would be a better move at this time, fewer issues?  What are your thoughts on that scenario?  From what I recall there didn't seem to be many issues with it and they have likely all been dealt with.  However, I could be mistaken.

I had no issues with a 4900 and 3880 but you should always install the latest drivers from Epson and only Epson after any upgrade to a Mac OS. Ideally of course, drivers that are said to be working withg that newer OS.

Thanks Andrew,

Oh yes, I am well aware(perhaps too well) of the fact that the latest printer drivers have to be loaded with any new OS, and also that the Epson Uninstall app should be used to get rid of the older ones first(a lesson I learned recently).  Of course the latest 9900 driver(9.17) for Lion is also used in Mavericks, at least as of today.  However, I would likely uninstall it and do a fresh install in Mavericks.  I believe you also use the Epson V750(700) scanner, not sure.  If so, are you having any issues with it in Mavericks?  On the Epson FAQ page for OS upgrades one of the questions was whether or not the printer drivers should be uninstalled "before" installing the OS upgrade.  Their answer was "Yes", but I'm not sure why that would make a difference.

Much appreciated Andrew,

If so, are you having any issues with it in Mavericks?
No, all is fine.
